Assistive Technology Module Discussion Theme 4

These resources, guides and web sites offer categorization and selection of AT devices according to their purposes, including their role in making activities and environments more accessible, and their role in addressing the functional limitations of users. What do you think about the importance of knowing the range of available AT devices, and the process of properly matching the user to the device is highlighted? If you were to use assistive technology with any of the learners in your classroom, how would you go about accessing it? Who should be included in the selection and decision making process if you decided to use assistive technology? How would you know if the assistive technology was “working” for your learners? What would you do if you felt that it could be improved?
